For All Your Mud-Ugly Digging Challenges
When digging using heavy equipment in muskeg and soft terrain, how do you establish a safe, stable mud matting digging platform? Digging mats are commonly used for these mud-ugly challenges. These special-purpose access mats are designed to provide ground stabilization under extreme weight.
Also known as rig mats or construction mats, these mats most commonly are repurposed used crane mats that have cable loops installed on each end. The excavator operator, digging on a moving base of 4-6 mats, advances the platform by hooking the bucket tines inside a cable loop and dragging the hooked mat from in front of the excavator, placing it behind the excavator allowing digging to continue in mud-ugly terrain. The access is therefore moved and managed by the excavator operator using a minimum number of mats.
Our digging timber mats are primarily constructed using solid 12 in. square Douglas fir timbers. Traditional sizes are 4′ x 20′ and 4′ x 30′.
Digging mats are used for several applications such as
- Pipeline trench excavation
- powerline stretching
- bridge repair and construction
- piers and wharves
Paradox understands that constructors and contractors are looking for ruggedness and value from their mats above all, and are less concerned about their appearance. They know that they will be subjecting these mats to rough handling and hard use. We hand-select graded crane mats suitable for this service, repurpose them with the cable loops, and offer them at a very competitive price point. Our digging mats are truly fit-for-purpose.
Cost Sensitivity. Value Conscious. Trust Paradox.
