Bamboo mats? Tell me more!
A relative newcomer to the access mats family, bamboo mats have notable advantages compared to other wood mats. Bamboo grows incredibly fast, needing only 5 years to mature.
Compare that to 25-30 years to grow the oak used in hardwood mats, and a similar period for Douglas fir used in fir mats. Bamboo also regrows without the need for reseeding, further reducing the carbon cost of managing bamboo plantations.
Bamboo boards are an engineered product, made using a glue-lam process with prepared bamboo strips and fibre. They are stronger than oak and will absorb very little water. Bamboo mats are constructed using bamboo boards, which makes them lighter than hardwood or rubber matting. More mats can be loaded on a trailer which reduces your transport costs. Reducing your transport costs also means you are reducing carbon emissions and increasing your commitment to sustainability.
Bamboo mats can be used in the toughest access and platform situations, and may be your preferred access mat choice.
